Maintenance Manager-GMC-UAE– Job Code: 301015

Job Summary:

  • To directly support the Logistics Director in managing, planning, and organizing the activities of the Maintenance department. Provide technical direction and supervision over assigned support staff. Responsible for daily performance of staff in executing fleet and component maintenance, including supplier relations, safety, preventive maintenance, and warranty recovery. Provide input to the Director on strategic and tactical direction, coaching and development of junior Managers, and mechanics.

    Principal Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate daily and report directly to the Director of Logistics.
  • Ensure that both unscheduled and scheduled maintenance is accomplished as outlined.
  • Ensure that all vehicle repairs are carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s technical data.
  • Supervise all maintenance employees.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of housekeeping and safety requirements are maintained.
  • Responsible for the accountability of all provided tools, shop, and personnel protective equipment.
  • Oversee manufacturers’ service bulletins to ensure completion within prescribed guidelines.
  • Ensure that the Vehicle Technical Data Library is readily available and up-to-date.
  • Utilize management reports to identify negative trends and streamline the maintenance process.
  • Responsible for evaluating the quality of work performed by any subcontractors, if necessary.
  • Ensure that all staff training and performance is to standard.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of time cards, ensuring that overtime is warranted prior to the Director of Logistics’ approval.
  • Provide input to the annual budget, and approve, monitor, and control monetary expenditures.
  • Develop goals and monitor results for a specified group of company shops, and a network of contract maintenance vendors supporting a large vehicle fleet.
  • Facilitate actions to improve performance as appropriate with the focus on continuous improvement.
  • Identify, implement and monitor performance indicators.
  • Ensure appropriate training and development needs are identified and met.
  • Build cooperative relationships with leaders from multiple areas in the program and assist in the development and issuing of guidance, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide direction, coordination and planning to on-site leadership regarding new company maintenance facility start-ups.
  • Ensure maintenance procedures are followed, check quality assurance, and manage overall work flow.
  • Ensure workshop strategic direction and operations are in line with overall business unit, company goals, and values.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Logistics.

    Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction and supervision over 8 workshop Managers in the maintenance of military equipment.

    Experience Required:

  • 12-15 years combined successful Maintenance / Operations experience.
  • Conversant with Technical Order and publications systems.
  • Experience with General Support or Depot Maintenance Program.

    Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

    Working Environment:

  • Air-conditioned offices and workshops.

    Education/Experience Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience of Training and Instructional Techniques is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
