LG4 Weather Observer/Forecaster – Job Code: 600042 Job Summary: Performs manages and directs weather operations for aviation activities, integrating current and forecasted atmospheric and space weather conditions into operations and operational planning. Principal Accountabilities: Knowledge & Skills: Physical Requirements: Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. Experience: Typically, a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a weather station or forecasting unit as well as one (1) year experience in advanced weather assignments. Education: Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or atmospheric science is desirable. Two (2) years of experience in a related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
