Primary Title: Test Control Officer/Coordinator (TCO)- Arabic language (Gulf-dialect) Purpose:
As Arabic Language Test Control Officer (TCO), individual will administer and maintain Arabic Linguist (Gulf-dialect) testing requirements necessary for assignment in Iraq. This includes storage and control of all sensitive testing materials and related documents.
Principal Responsibilities:
The TCO ensures the quality, effectiveness, and consistency of the overall language testing program at their respective Regional Recruiting Center (RRC). The TCO will be responsible for all administrative aspects of the program. He/She will administer English and foreign language assessment tests to determine comprehension and level of understanding of the language among linguist candidates and employees. He/She will work with the Manager of Language Testing at the GLS Program Management Office to identify linguist shortcomings to assist in the development of training manuals and remedial packets for to assist linguists to strengthen their language skills. The Test Control Officer will measure language skills according to standard recognized ILRT, DLI, and other standards as required.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or related field.
Desired:
A thorough knowledge of cultural, economic, geopolitical, and military issues of Middle Eastern/ Southwest Asian countries. Previous operational experience as linguist in support of Government operations. Previous experience managing linguists during Department of Defense operations. Certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). An ability to operate standard and specialized office automation equipment to process foreign language material.

Experience/Skills:
(a) Minimum required:
Excellent communications skills. Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team. Achieve a DLI/ILRT score of 4 in reading, writing and speaking in Gulf-dialect Arabic. Previous experience as a linguist or translator is highly-preferred. Degree in linguistics or certified as a DLI language tester also preferred. Should have strong administrative and verifiable computer skills (MS Office applications). Must be able to pass a thorough security and background screening.
