HVAC Supervisor

Job Summary:

Oversees the installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment. Responsible for supervising all HVAC personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Supervise and participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems to ensure that the work performed is in compliance with blueprints, manufacturer specifications, written and/or verbal instruction.
  • Plan, schedule, organize and assign work to ensure proper distribution of work, adequate staffing and space for efficient performance of duties.
  • Manage and/or assist in establishing preventive maintenance programs for air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.
  • Monitors jobs to ensure quality and compliance with job standards.
  • Provide training and instruction to personnel on activities relating to air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance to ensure an acceptable work performance level.
  • Supervise and/or assist in personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and scheduling time off. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
  • Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source
  • May install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings
  • Maintains plans, records and files regarding heating, ventilating and air conditioning
  • Performs duties of an HVAC Foreman when necessary

    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively and live under harsh conditions.

    Physical Requirements:

    Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

    Experience:

    Minimum of eight (8) years experience in HVAC field or in a related area. Minimum two (2) years as Foreman/supervisor of facilities maintenance HVAC work force.

    Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidate must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification or verifiable host country certification and/or license in Freon Recovery/Recycling. State Approved Journeyman�s Certification or comparable License/Certification required.
